| You might think it’s hard to match the buzz of the racing frenzy we faced last month. Nightlife venues around Bahrain try to prove otherwise.
What’s new
Ladies, bring along your friends and colleagues every Monday and Thursday to An Nada Lounge at Sheraton Bahrain Hotel. While you get three free drinks to help you start the weekend with a bang, a visit on Monday entitles women guests to unlimited drinks from 7pm-1am. Who’s in for a girl’s night out? Also, if you are a kebab lover, you should not miss the kebab promotion throughout May with lots of choices for as low as BD2.500++.
JJ’s Music Hall has introduced a new theme night titled Art Haus. It’s all about music on this evening; they reel in new musicians week after week.
Joining the live entertainment scenario is ‘the honky tonk man’ aka Eugene Maglo at Boudoir lounge in Kempinski Grand Hotel who performs genres like soul, R&B and rock and roll six nights a week.
Where you need to be
Kicking off the party mania this month is DJ Getdown at Bushido. Walk in before 11pm for free entrance or the samurai (men) will need to shell out BD10 to get in. Winning the crowd at Wrangler Bar at The Juffair Grand Hotel on the same night is DJ Muniklip. It’d be wise to be there at 9pm.
On May 4, Damian D’Costa ignites the party season at Cocoon Lounge here with a journey through the different nuances of pure tech house. Chris B shows the lounge’s patrons a good time on May 9. Bringing forward exquisite talent from our home ground, this venue will host a gig by iLL Communications on May 11. The Balaeric party continues on May 18. They wind up the buzz on May 23 with none other than Greg Stainer.
DJ Patrick Hagenaar is back at Coral Bay on May 25 to remind Bahrain what the brand name Housexy truly stands for. Men, grab your tickets at BD5.
No matter how people try to convince you otherwise, the biggest event of the month is the Champions League finals; and there’s no other way about it than to catch it with your mates at Dublin at Ramee Palace or Boatyard Bar at Al Bander Hotel & Resort as they seem to know how to make a hue and cry about it.
Theme nights
While the search for Miss Bedrock continues every Wednesday night, the nightclub is all charged up this month to bring back the Lumina glow party on May 10 and bring home an international guest DJ from UK on May 31. Not so far away, Club Buffalo, also at Ramee California Hotel, shows them who is boss with the return of Lost in Paradise on May 18. Get jamming with resident band Cache Superstar during the American week, May 20-26, and drink up at shockingly low prices.
Comedy tour
The UK is known for its brilliant comedy scene and wonderfully humorous comedians. A selection of them have been flying to Bahrain recently to entertain the crowds as part of a comedy road show that visits three of the island’s favourite venues, Kicks at the Hotel Diva, Champs at the Juffair Grand Hotel and Corners at the Dragon Hotel and Resort. This month the comedy club brings you comedy circuit veterans, John Moloney and Carl Hutchinson from May 17-18.
