A JAPANESE FILM EXTRAVAGANZA FEBRUARY 15 AND FEBRUARY 17 2023 JAPANESE FILM FESTIVAL BAHRAIN NATIONAL MUSEUM PRESENTING THE ARTISTS FEBRUARY 28 TO MARCH 28 APPLICATION 001 AL RIWAQ ART SPACE This exhibition showcases the works of the first cohort of the Application 001 residency programme conducted by Al Riwaq. The artists worked within their studios at the Bank House, and completed the space’s three-month Nexus course. During this time, the artists were in constant conversation with the Al Riwaq team to develop their ideas and further their practices. The 2023 Japanese Film Festival, a part of the Spring of Culture festival, will be a must-attend event for fans of Japanese cinema. The event is being organised by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities in collaboration with the Japan Foundation and the Japanese Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Bahrain National Museum will hold two screenings of two films from the Japanese Film Library DESTINY: The Tale of Kamakura on February 15 and ON-GAKU: Our Sound on February 17. Fadwa Ramadan’s trip to Siwa Oasis, Egypt in 2014, has triggered a newfound interest in the Amazigh language, a group of dialects indigenous to North Africa. She utilised Amazigh letters to create monochrome visual forms, devoid of linguistic meaning. Her work evolved with a focus on Amazigh words and poetry. The exhibition will be open from Sunday to Thursday from 10am to 2pm and from 3pm to 6pm. Those wishing to visit the exhibition on Saturday may do so from 3pm to 7pm. Entry is free for all.
