EBRAHIM BIN MOHAMMED CENTRE FOR CULTURE AND RESEARCH This Qawwali Night, expect to be taken on a musical journey through hypnotic rhythm and entrancing vocals. In cooperation with the Embassy of Pakistan in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and in celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Cultural Hall hosts a musical performance evoking a form of Sufi music, in a night with Qawwali melodies that blend literature, music, and devotion. It is a juxtaposition of lyric with literature and performance, highlighting the beginnings of Qawwali with the recitation of poems by great poets such as Amir Khusrow, through the following eras, with the voices of Hamza Akram Qawwal and his brothers. Dar Al Riffa Al Ouda is one of the most important Bahraini folk bands, presenting many styles of the famous musical heritage in Bahrain and the region, such as Al-Fjiri, Al-Mjilsi, Al-Naqazi, Daq Al-Hab, Al-Liwa, as well as other folk arts. The Dar Al Riffa Al Ouda Band continuously highlights the significance of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s intangible cultural heritage. Attendance is free of charge. This event starts at 8pm. In cooperation with the Embassy of Pakistan in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and in celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Al-Saqafa - the Pakistan Association presents a wonderful night of emotions accompanied by Urdu poetry, joined by an array of remarkable poets from Pakistan, Bahrain and the rest of the region. The event will also mark the premiere of poet Ahmed Adil’s poetry book in Urdu titled ‘The World of Emkan’. Entry is free for all. This event starts at 8pm. Visit www.springofculture.org. Get ready to be amazed by the spectacular Khaled Al Abdallah who shall jazz up the stage with his performance. Khaled holds a PHD in drama and music and has been the vocal Professor of cinema and theatre at the Lebanese University Faculty of Art for the last 13 years. He has a number of albums in his archive, ranging from tracks he wrote and composed himself to tributes to late singers such as El-Cheikh Imam.
