Bahrain This Month - March 2025

womanthismonth.com | MARCH 2025 PARENTING 77 Creating Lasting Memories But amidst the chaos, there’s magic. There’s the shared joy of breaking the fast together, the laughter echoing around the table, and the feeling of community during Taraweeh prayers (even if your youngest is using the prayer mat as a magic carpet). There are the sweet moments when your child surprises you with a thoughtful question about Ramadan or when they try to fast for a few hours (and then promptly demand a double helping of machboos). Want to cultivate these moments? Talk to your kids about Ramadan in age-appropriate ways. Explain why we fast, and focus on the positive aspects like sharing and kindness. Make it fun! Create a simple Ramadan calendar with stickers or small treats. And let’s not forget the Ghabgas! These nightly gatherings are a feast for the senses and a fantastic opportunity to catch up with friends and family. It’s also a chance for the kids to run wild and burn off some energy, which, let’s face it, is a win for everyone. Just try to keep an eye on them; those little ones can disappear faster than a plate of luqaimat. Ghabga survival tip: bring a small bag of toys or books to keep the kids entertained. And if all else fails, bribe them with the promise of dessert. Ramadan in Bahrain is a beautiful, chaotic, exhausting and ultimately rewarding experience. It’s a time for reflection, for connection and for reminding ourselves that even amidst the madness, there’s so much love and joy to be found. So, to all the mums out there navigating this Holy Month: you’re amazing. You’re strong. You’re probably running on caffeine and sheer willpower. But you’re also creating memories that will last a lifetime. And that, my friends, is something truly special. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I hear a small voice demanding more Vimto. Wish me luck! And may your Ramadan be filled with more laughter than tears (though, let’s be honest, there will probably be some of both). Good luck!
