lifestyle Bahrainthismonth.com 18 November 2024 TEEING OFF FOR CHARITY 25 years of American Mission Hospital’s Golf Tournament This year, the AMH Island Classic Annual Charity Golf Tournament will be celebrating its 25th year, with the latest edition scheduled to take place on November 14, 15 and 16 November at His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s Private Golf Course in Saffriya. Now an important fixture in Bahrain’s sporting calendar, the golf tournament first started in 1997 as a fundraiser when the American Mission Hospital’s work and growth necessitated the construction of a new building in Manama, requiring the purchase of advanced medical and surgical equipment. As a not-for-profit healthcare establishment serving Bahrain since 1902, the hospital has no investors or shareholders who put in capital or who seek dividends from its operations. Hence, there is a need for support not only for the hospital’s infrastructure upgrades but also, especially, for its numerous community-outreach programmes. Col. Khalifa Al Fadala tees off in 1999.
