The meeting was held in the presence of BAB’s specialised committee members and a number of financial and banking institutions’ members. BENEFIT’s roadmap for the next three years comes in line with its four core strategic pillars including advancing payment infrastructure to enable new payment schemes, empowering access to credit, support digitisation of the government and key sectors, and internationalisation to develop key alliances and partnerships across borders. The three-year strategy was presented by Deputy Chief Executive at BENEFIT, Yousif AlNefaie, followed by an open floor discussion where committee members and financial sector representatives were invited to participate in the discussion and submit recommendations to incorporate within its strategy. BENEFIT REVIEWS 2022-2024 CORPORATE STRATEGY The Board of Directors of the Bahrain Association of Banks (BAB) held a meeting chaired by the Chairman of the Board, Adnan Ahmed Yousif, in the presence of the members of the Board of Directors and CEO of BAB, Dr. Waheed Al-Qassim. The Board discussed the arrangements for the annual gala dinner that BAB intends to hold under the patronage of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain. The Board also reviewed a number of events, programmes and activities implemented by BAB, including the strengthening of the role of banks in the economic recovery plan and the strategy for the development of the financial services sector. In addition, the board approved the establishment of a cybersecurity club for banks with the aim of creating a platform to discuss the issue while proposing legislations that shall enhance cybersecurity in banks. BAB also followed up on the arrangements for the holding of the Bahrain Economic Forum in December 2022, which the BAB intends to organise in cooperation with the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank of Bahrain, and the Economic Development Board. BAHRAIN ASSOCIATION OF BANKS DISCUSSES PLANS E-commerce platform in Bahrain, Homiez. me, will be launching an initiative to train 100 Bahrainis in the field of E-commerce and equip them with necessary knowledge and skills. The initiative is part of the platform’s efforts to integrate more local talent in the thriving sector while supporting Bahrain’s efforts to undergo a digital transformation, and create a knowledge economy. “The programme has been tailored to ensure that all trainees master the foundations and skills of practicing e-commerce based on the most recent global data. Hence, the programme will include theoretical and practical sessions, projects, internal and external participation, and six months of on-the-job training,” explains Homiez Chief Digital Officer, Sadiq Abdul Rasool. Participants will be trained by Homiez dedicated teams which includes professionals in programming, design, research, marketing and communication among other areas.
