When? October 19
Event? Art Exhibition: The Breath of Poetry
Venue? La Fontaine Centre of Contemporary Art
Taking inspiration from Eastern and Western poets, writers and philosophers, and her own writing, Pakistan-born artist Simeen Farhat will be showcasing her artwork through an exhibition titled The Breath of Poetry. Her late father, who was quite well versed in Urdu, Farsi and English, and with a fanatic love for Ghalib’s poetry, played a tremendous role in shaping Simeen’s current body of work.
Some of her major solo shows have been in New York, Philadelphia, Dallas, Houston, London, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Bahrain, Kuwait and Karachi. She has also participated in important group shows in Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Turkey and Lebanon, as well as in many important art fairs.
All art pieces are up for sale and 20 per cent of the proceeds will go to Think Foundation (www.thinkinc. me, www.thinkincfoundation.org).
The opening will be held from 6pm, followed by dinner and a jazz performance by three musicians, Franky Flowerz (saxophone), Ronald (keyboard) and Jason (guitar), from 8pm.
Tickets are priced at BD30+, with a 10 per cent discount if purchased before October 10. Call 17 230-123, email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.lafontaineartcentre.net
