This exhibition draws on the permanent collection of the Bahrain National Museum in addition to highlights from the National Museum of Kuwait and illustrates an exceptional selection of seals spanning the third and second millennia BCE.
The display examines the use, techniques, diversity and splendour of the Dilmun seals. Hardly bigger than a few centimetres, the seals were a main administrative tool used to organise trade. Their distinctive form, engravings and use of local material reveal valuable insight into the structure of the Dilmun society and the prevailing sociocultural conditions.
