It’s that time of the year again when we commemorate Remembrance Day and the end of World War I, a time-honoured tradition, with the celebration of the Poppy Ball.
Held in support of the Chelsea Pensioners Appeal and The Children and Mothers Welfare Society Bahrain, the event is firmly established on Bahrain’s annual social calendar.
It is organised by the Bahrain British Business Forum in cooperation with the British Business Association (BBA) from the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.
As for every year, the Poppy Ball is honoured by the presence of the Chelsea Pensioners. This year’s visitors are Sgt John Griffiths, 73, WO1 Peter Henry, 71, and WO1 Hugh Craig, 68.
The highlights of their visit will be the laying of a wreath at a memorial service, as well as attending functions, school visits and places of interest in Bahrain.
The Poppy Ball will begin at 7pm with a welcome reception and dinner, followed by music from DJ Alfie.
The dress code is evening or cocktail dresses for ladies and dinner suits with black ties or national dress for gents.
