Dr. Essa Faqeeh, CEO of Areen Hospitality, shares his vision for transforming Bahrain’s tourism industry through innovation, sustainability and world-class experiences that balance authentic culture with global hospitality standards.

“Our vision is to redefine Bahrain’s hospitality sector by creating exceptional, world-class experiences that celebrate the Kingdom’s culture while meeting global standards,” says Dr. Faqeeh. “We want to position Bahrain as one of the region’s most sought-after destinations by expanding into boutique resorts, signature F&B concepts, wellness retreats, leisure attractions and lifestyle-driven experiences.”

Areen Hospitality’s portfolio ranges from Charthouse to Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park. He continues: “One of our most impactful projects is the integration of large-scale solar energy systems across our properties, designed to cut electricity usage and lower our carbon footprint. Bahrain’s tourism market is growing, and Dr. Faqeeh sees both promise and challenge. “The biggest opportunities lie in positioning Bahrain as a premium destination for leisure, wellness and MICE travel,” he says. “But with competition rising, success will depend on balancing digital transformation with authentic service and sustainability.”

Several projects are already in the pipeline. “Among the most exciting is the Meliá Hotel & Beach, which will introduce a new level of coastal luxury,” he reveals. “We are also rebranding Lost Paradise to include a dedicated hotel, residences and villas, making it a year-round destination. In addition, the upcoming Kempinski Hotel will further cement Bahrain’s place on the high-end tourism map.”

Dr. Faqeeh concludes: “Each initiative is designed to diversify Bahrain’s offering and strengthen its position as a global hub for tourism and hospitality.”
