Wyndham Grand Manama has become one of Bahrain’s standout luxury destinations, combining business-ready facilities with leisure appeal. Director of Sales and Marketing, Shadi Al Atiyatt, explains how the hotel stays ahead in a competitive market.

“I’m a hospitality commercial leader with an entrepreneurial backbone,” says Mr. Al Atiyatt. “I trained in Switzerland then built and ran my own businesses in catering, events and international trading which taught me how to win customers, control costs and deliver under real pressure. When the economic crisis forced an exit, I returned to hotels with a different engine.”

That experience shaped his approach at Wyndham Grand. “I moved rapidly up the ladder by pairing hands-on selling with owner-style thinking; tight distribution, clean pricing logic and packaging that turns demand into booked revenue. Wyndham Grand Manama made sense because it rewards that approach: Bahrain Bay location, serious meeting space and a product where rooms, meetings and F&B can be sold as one.”

Defining the Brand
Positioning is central to the strategy. “We position the hotel as Bahrain’s easiest five-star choice for rooms, meetings, dining in one place. The signature highlight is Bateel Ballroom, the highest ballroom in Bahrain, on the 45th floor with 360° views which creates a memorable setting for conferences, galas and premium social events.”

This balance makes the hotel versatile. “On the leisure side we package short-break value for GCC weekends. On business we make it simple for organisers: rooms, venue, production and F&B under one roof with fast approvals and compliant invoicing. That reliability, plus our location, supports Bahrain’s pitch as a seamless high-quality destination.”

Driving Bookings and Loyalty
Bookings are anchored by three clear pillars. “Book-Direct first: always-on value promoted on web, email and our app. Segment playbooks: GCC weekender bundles for leisure, value-add grids for corporate, DDR-with-rooms packages for groups. Calendar control: we pre-sell key weeks such as Eids, National Days and Formula 1, and attach rooms to meetings with clear cut-offs. It keeps occupancy steady and protects RevPAR when price competition heats up.”

Sustainability in Action
Sustainability is a growing demand. “At Wyndham Grand Manama we keep sustainability simple and visible: we anchor our operations in the Wyndham Green Programme and then market the guest benefits it creates; quieter energy-efficient rooms, smarter water use, less single-use in meetings and locally mindful menus.

Recent Campaigns and the Future
Several campaigns stand out. “Our GCC Weekender ties into Saudi and Kuwait weekends with late checkout, parking and F&B credit driving direct share and upsells. Rooms + Meetings Bundles are simple templates that event planners can approve quickly. We also refreshed our agency and DMC content to lift extended-stay conversions.”

Looking ahead, Mr. Al Atiyatt’s strategy is clear. “We aim to be the easiest five-star hotel in Bahrain to book and run programmes with. That means disciplined pricing, earlier date control and faster proposals while doubling down on the things that make us different: alcohol-free, city-central, meeting-ready and family-friendly. In a market adding more keys especially apartment-style, we keep our edge by making the whole journey frictionless and the experience distinctly Wyndham Grand Manama.”
