Dr. Sharath Chandran, Chief Executive Officer of Al Hilal Healthcare Group, writes on resilience, accessible care and the importance of protecting personal wellbeing while supporting Bahrain’s wider community.
On World Health Day, we are reminded that health is the foundation of every strong community and every meaningful life. It is a day to reflect on the importance of wellbeing, not only for ourselves but for those around us, especially as we navigate the complexities of the modern world.
Having come through the era of the global pandemic – a time when Al Hilal Healthcare Group was at the forefront of serving the citizens and residents of Bahrain – we continue that same legacy of unwavering service today. In those challenging days, we stood as a shield for the community, and today we remain just as committed to being your partner in health. Our core mission continues to be built upon our three foundational pillars: making quality healthcare available, affordable and accessible to every person in the Kingdom.
In recent times, we have all felt the impact of global challenges on our daily lives, from the unsettling sound of sirens to the uncertainty they can bring. Yet, even in these moments, we find strength in the stability of our nation. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Government of Bahrain and the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for their tireless support in making the lives of all residents and citizens better and safer. Under this leadership, the future is undeniably bright, and we must all remain healthy to embrace the opportunities it holds.
At Al Hilal, we are reaching out to everyone by ensuring that quality care is always within reach through our 11 branches, which include two hospitals and nine medical centres strategically located across the Kingdom. Our hospitals remain fully operational 24/7, providing a constant pillar of support and peace of mind, no matter the hour. We are particularly proud of our latest addition, the Al Hilal Medical Centre for Women and Child, which stands as the first of its kind in the Kingdom, dedicated to providing specialised, compassionate care for families.

As the largest private healthcare provider in Bahrain, we continue to lead by bringing the highest number of specialised doctors to our community while remaining a primary driver of employment in the healthcare sector. We are also evolving our service delivery by incorporating transformative technologies such as generative AI and agentic AI. We believe these advancements will enhance the way our patients interact with healthcare, making services more seamless, precise and personal in the years ahead.
While we may find ourselves in challenging or hostile situations, we can reclaim our sense of balance through personal wellness.
Health is a continuous journey, and it is vital to maintain a proactive approach by eating healthily and engaging in simple home exercises to stay fit and resilient. Even when the world feels uncertain, maintaining a positive outlook and prioritising physical health can lead to meaningful, lifelong change. Our commitment remains steadfast: to lead with excellence, to serve with integrity and to place humanity at the heart of everything we do. We are proud to walk alongside the people of Bahrain, building trust and restoring confidence in ways that truly matter.
