Redefining Education

Since opening in 2004, New Millennium School (NMS) has grown into one of Bahraizn’s leading CBSE schools, combining student-led learning with innovation and academic excellence.

Operating under the Knowledge Management Group led by Padma Shri Dr. Ravi Pillai, with the guidance of Vice Chairman Mr Ganesh Pillai  and Managing Director Mrs Geetha Pillai, NMS continues to champion a philosophy that places innovation and independent thinking at the heart of education.

Under the leadership of Principal Dr. Arun Kuumar Sharma, the institution became the first CBSE school in Bahrain to receive an Outstanding rating from the Bahrain Education and Training Quality Authority (BQA).

Central to the school’s approach is its Student-Led Learning (SL2) model, developed through its Flip Learning Action Research initiative. By encouraging students to take ownership of their education, the model combines inquiry with technology and practical experiences that help learners think critically and apply their knowledge beyond the classroom.

Supported by modern laboratories and research opportunities, students are encouraged to question ideas and apply what they learn to real-world challenges.

That philosophy is reflected in the achievements of its students. A team developed DIRA, a Progressive Web Application that provides residents with verified emergency information during times of crisis, while another student launched Thrust, a sports networking platform connecting athletes, coaches and academies.

Entrepreneurial thinking has also taken shape through sesamefamily.bh, a student-led baking business that has grown through creativity and participation in the Young Trader Programme.

Adding to the school’s international achievements, one student was selected as an Ambassador for the International Astronomy and Astrophysics Competition (IAAC), recognising an outstanding commitment to scientific exploration.

Leadership extends beyond the classroom through initiatives including the TED-Ed Club, NMS Press Club, Editorial Club and a range of academic societies.

These provide opportunities to undertake research and bring projects to life while strengthening communication and confidence.

Bagless Day is another initiative that brings this philosophy to life, replacing conventional lessons with interdisciplinary projects, scientific investigations, creative activities and outdoor experiences.

The programme encourages students to learn through experience while reinforcing the practical application of classroom knowledge.

The school’s CBSE Board Examination results remain outstanding year after year, with students securing exceptional scores, subject centums and national recognition.

NMS has also established itself as a strong performer in international benchmarking assessments including PIRLS and TIMSS, where learners consistently demonstrate high levels of literacy, mathematical reasoning and scientific understanding.

Co-curricular learning is given equal emphasis. Students regularly represent the school in Olympiads, the World Scholar’s Cup, Model United Nations, STEM competitions, sports and the performing arts, building confidence while discovering new interests.

Artificial Intelligence, digital literacy, research and entrepreneurship are integrated throughout the curriculum, ensuring learners develop skills that remain relevant in a rapidly changing world.

This is complemented by initiatives promoting community engagement and responsible citizenship, alongside strong partnerships with parents through regular communication, workshops and feedback.
