Look-A-Like - Dr. Abed or... Mr. Bean?

Back in the late nineties, Bahrain This Month delighted readers with its iconic Look-A-Like column, and now it’s back!

Who? Dr. Abed

Looks like?
The one and only Rowan Atkinson, Britain’s beloved Mr. Bean!

What does he do IRL? 
He’s a dentist. He fixes smiles and, apparently, inspires a few giggles too.

Spotted at?
Raffles Al Areen Palace Bahrain, enjoying the Mediterranean brunch in true weekend style.

Doing what? 
He’s visiting Bahrain to attend a friend’s wedding and enjoy a few days of sunshine. We found him tucking into good food, greeting fans – including our very own Publisher and Chairman, George F. Middleton – and making everyone do a double-take.

Memorable anecdotes?
“What’s funny is that Mr. Bean once did a dentist sketch,” he laughs. “Sometimes young patients walk in, see me, and whisper, ‘I didn’t know I was seeing Mr. Bean!’ I just shake their hand, pull a funny face, and it helps them relax.”

How does it feel to ‘Look-A-Like’ Rowan Atkinson?
“He’s a household treasure in the UK, and everyone knows who Mr. Bean is,” says Dr. Abed. “So I don’t mind at all. It’s an honour.”
