Sri Lanka Club Bahrain Marks Its 47th Anniversary with a Grand Celebration

The Sri Lanka Club in Bahrain marked its 47th Anniversary with a glittering celebration held at the Grand Ambassador Ballroom of the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence & Spa, Manama, on October 30. The sold-out gala drew nearly 350 members and guests, making it one of the club’s most memorable milestones to date.
Her Excellency Mrs. Shanika Dissanayake, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Bahrain, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The event was also attended by officials from the Sri Lankan Embassy in Bahrain, Mr. Sanmith Thaaruna, Director of Prime Lands (who travelled from Sri Lanka especially for the event), as well as several annual and event sponsors.
A highlight of the evening was a live performance by Lunu Dehi, the popular Sri Lankan band flown in exclusively for the celebrations. Their dynamic set, featuring an energetic mix of English, Sinhala and Tamil hits, kept the dance floor full throughout the night.
The event commenced with a Champagne reception, introduced for the first time at the anniversary celebration. The formal proceedings began with a welcome address by Mr. Chithalka Ambrose, Honorary President of the Sri Lanka Club Bahrain, followed by an address from Her Excellency Mrs. Dissanayake. Once the official programme concluded, Lunu Dehi took to the stage and set the tone for an evening of lively entertainment and camaraderie.
Adding to the excitement, attendees also enjoyed a series of giveaways, from entry ticket prizes to table draws and a quiz competition, making the evening both festive and memorable.
The Sri Lanka Club Bahrain, established in 1978, continues to serve as a cultural and social hub for the Sri Lankan community in the Kingdom, fostering unity and celebration through events that honour the country’s rich heritage.
