BAS Development, a subsidiary of Bahrain Airport Services Company (BAS), has signed a land lease for its Central Kitchen project.
The agreement covers an area of about 4,000sq/m in Bahrain International Investment Zone and the signing was attended by BAS CEO Salman Al Mahmeed and Yousuf Ali Hassan, Assistant Undersecretary for Industrial Management at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.
“BAS’s strategy is to diversify business opportunities to mitigate the risks associated with aviation seasonality. As a result, the company is seeking to strengthen its position in providing high quality catering services. A land lease of 25 years agreement was establishment for the Central Kitchen project, with the possibility of agreement renewal,” says Mr Al Mahmeed. “We focus on diversifying business opportunities and benefit from our experience in catering.”
He adds that the company has prepared the preliminary engineering plans for the project and is in the process of opening construction tenders. The project is expected to be completed within 10 months and will have a significant impact on the catering sector in the Kingdom.
