Insurance Goes Tech

There were 45 speakers and more than 300 delegates at the first insurance-technology conference hosted in the Kingdom under the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) titled “Reimagining Insurance”. Held at Bahrain FinTech Bay, the event saw the launch of the Insurance Digitisation Report, curated in collaboration with Roland Berger and BIA Insurance.

Attendees also heard an introduction on the changing landscape of the insurance industry in the MENA region by Abdul Rahman Baker, executive director - Financial Institutions Supervision at CBB.  The Keynote speech was delivered by Peter Haslebacher CEO APACInsurTech Ltd shedding light on the current view of InsurTech.

A huge range of international speakers attended the event, including Juergen Stoffel, of Hannover Re Group, Carl Bauer, of Eos Venture Partners, Michele Grosso, of Democrance, Walid Daniel Dib, of Addenda, Tobias Taupitz, of Laka, and many more.

There were also interactive panels with industry specialists, concluding with a panel titled “InsurTech: the way forward” that shed light on the next steps, for both insurers and InsurTech firms, to developing the necessary platform for long-term business sustainability as the insurance industry’s dynamics change.
