We could all use a getaway these days... perhaps at a location that offers peace and quiet, white sandy beaches, private pools and comfort – an escape to recharge our mental and emotional batteries. This month, we had the golden opportunity of experiencing just that and more when we visited Jaw Resort and Spa, which has been a subject of curiosity among residents and visitors alike.
Located on the coast of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the resort cradles visitors with a range of comforts and luxuries at their beautiful one, two and three-bedroom villas. From the moment you drive into the resort you experience the luxury of peace and quiet which is complemented by a host of conveniences including ample parking and hospitable staff. The sounds of birds chirping and the sight of gorgeous frangipanis, manicured hedges and more remind you that you’re on vacation. We enjoyed our stay at one of the three-bedroom, sea-facing villas which proves to be the perfect destination for families or groups on vacation.
On walking into the villa, the first thing we noticed was that the tastefully-decorated living room had large sliding doors, giving you a breath-taking view of the shaded pool and sea beyond it. A quick tour of the villa revealed that it was ideal for six people as it has a master bedroom with an attached bathroom, queen bedroom and twin bedroom too. The villa is equipped with a fully functional kitchen which includes an electrical cooking range, microwave oven, refrigerator and all necessary crockery and cutlery. A walk around the private pool area reveals endless opportunities to relax - a patio table, two sun lounger chairs and more in addition to a pool tube float – a necessity for pool safety. After putting away our belongings, we took a dip in the pool, gazed as the sea lapped the coast and lounged around for hours, which is as relaxing as it sounds.
As the sun set, we made our way to the resort’s beautiful white sandy beach, which stretches across 8000 sqm. Barefoot, we strolled across the spotless sand and dipped our toes in the sea before relaxing on one of the beachside gazebos. Jaw Resort and Spa has paid plenty of attention to make sure that you enjoy your time at the beach; the area is lined with beautiful palm trees and umbrellas, and fitted with gazebos, swings, a large playground for kids, volleyball net and goal posts, too, should you wish to try your hand at any sports. You can also paddle around in the sea in one of their canoes. The best part is that the beach is beautifully lit at night, so you can enjoy the area any time of day.

Following dinner and a much-needed slumber in one of their comfortable beds, we woke up bright and early the following morning to watch the sun rise. A fun fact about the resort is that it’s East-facing meaning that you can watch the sun rise on the horizon. Our breakfast was served at the villa and beautifully arranged on the coffee table for all to enjoy. We were given three options, but a majority of us opted for the English-style breakfast which donned a luscious feast of baked beans, sausages, beef bacon, eggs (prepared to your liking), juices, brewed coffee, toast and a variety of spreads. After tucking in at leisure, we enjoyed the amenities at the villa, worked off some calories at the gym and took a stroll through the resort.
For lunch, we made our way to Al Bareh Restaurant, which offers guests indoor or outdoor dining options. The multi-cuisine restaurant offers a wide range of delicious fare including pastas, pizza, grills, flavourful biriyanis and freshly-made juices. As avid fans of Italian cuisine, we loved their creamy tagliatelle pasta and super cheesy margerita pizza which arrived at the table hot and fresh out of the oven. A thirst-quenching watermelon juice and delicious grilled salmon delighted our tastebuds further as part of our dining experience.
Needless to say, we left feeling refreshed and satisfied with our getaway experience. We will return soon enough, perhaps following a busy deadline, or just because we feel like treating ourself to the delightful experience that Jaw Resort and Spa offers.
