A New Taste of Spain

This popular restaurant in the heart of Adliya has recently reopened its doors for customers to rediscover its culinary delights.

The new La Vinoteca Barcelona is welcoming customers again after a full revamp on all fronts. The award-winning home of authentic Spanish food in the Kingdom is located in the trendy Block 338. It now boasts an entirely rejuvenated experience, including a reimagined venue and menus, helping solidify its reputation as a little piece of ‘España’ in Bahrain.

“We’ve worked really hard to build a loyal customer base since we first opened in 2014, and we take their feedback very seriously,” says James Johnston, the head of the restaurants division of BMMI Group, which owns the restaurant. “As such, we’ve taken all that we’ve learned to create an even better all-round experience at the new La Vinoteca Barcelona. The new menus still feature some of our customer favourites but are now enhanced with some exciting new dishes from chef Joan. The creation of this menu is about delivering authentic, excellent quality food but at prices that make us far more accessible.”

La Vinoteca Barcelona’s new menu is built on balance and choice. Foodies and beverage connoisseurs will find something to delight them, no matter what their budget or taste. “Sometimes you are in the mood for just a bite, sometimes you would prefer to indulge some more,” says Joan Gomez, the restaurant’s Spanish executive chef. “Our new menu offers a diverse and flexible range of authentic Spanish tapas, mains, desserts and beverages to match your mood.”

Joan has been passionate about good food since he was young. At the age of 13, he was already assisting his father in the kitchen of a restaurant along Barcelona’s coast. Since then, he has graduated from a prestigious catering school, trained in Michelin-star restaurants and worked all around the globe.

“I’ve been inspired by my Spanish roots and the amazing quality of Bahraini ingredients and culture that we are able to infuse into our cuisine,” he says. “Our kitchen is always buzzing with our team experimenting until they perfect exciting flavours. I truly believe that when the festive energy of Spain meets the warm spirit of Bahrain, something incredible happens.”

But it’s not only the menus that have experienced an upgrade. The venue itself has been refitted to reflect the warmth and intimate atmosphere that is perfect for a core element of both Spanish and Bahraini cultures – the joy of sharing good food. In a nod to the restaurant’s partnership with Bodegas Torres in Spain, the interior has been tailored to resemble the staves of a wooden barrel. The colours are deeper, the seating more comfortable and communal – perfect for a big group or for a memorable date night.

“We really cherish the opportunity to share Spain’s lifestyle and passion with the welcoming hospitality of Bahrain,” adds BMMI Group CEO Marek Sheridan. “Great value, delicious, authentic food and exciting beverages, all served by warm and enthusiastic people in a wonderful place, with the aims of building on the great reputation that the team have already worked so hard to achieve.”

The eatery’s kitchen is open every day, from noon to midnight. The bar opens from noon to midnight, Saturday to Tuesday, and from noon to 2am, Wednesday to Friday.
