Maki: A Sweet Ending

In a bid to serve healthier fare, Maki has introduced two new stars on the menu – Tropical Fruits Platter and Berries Platter. They are both hearty options, yet unbelievably delicious. They also come at a time when Ramadan and summer are with us, and the need for some nutritious eats is at an all-year high.

“The idea came from the notion that many guests would like to have desserts which are not loaded with calories, yet tasty at the same time,” explains managing co-founder Amer Zeitoun. “Additionally, many guests have intolerances, which our new additions cater to.”

The Tropical Fruits Platter boasts a combination of strawberries, mango, kiwi, raisins, pineapples, avocado sauce, soy milk, and zero simple sugars or sweeteners. As for the other option, it comprises strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raisins, almonds, pistachios and avocado sauce. From antioxidants, to vitamins, minerals, fibre and resveratrol, which is believed to protect against heart disease and help digest fats, this is one super-healthy dose of goodness.

No stranger to promoting wholesome eating by any means, Maki has introduced many scrumptious dishes throughout the years, such as the Oliver Kale Salad, the Akagome (red rice) Salmon and the Okinawan Maki, to name a few. The latter is an exquisite vegetarian delight, which contains black rice, avocado, purple potato, cherry tomatoes, walnuts, shishito peppers, shiso cress, yuzu flakes and extra virgin olive oil.
