While most of us have been enjoying the holidays, Maki’s kitchen team has been hard at work over December to come up with some creative new dishes including Mia Temaki (vegan), Kasey Maki, and a new Vegan Bento Box!
Let’s be honest, some lighter vegan eating is just what we all need after the Christmas/New Year feasting!
And, vegan at Maki is still creative and delicious – the vegan selection has expanded to include a vegan quinoa gyoza, vegan crispy salad and the Mia Temaki. The vegan gyoza is filled with red quinoa among other delicious vegetables.
The Mia Temaki (vegan) is Maki’s first vegan hand-roll, with crispy tofu, avocado, carrots, assorted lettuce, wasabi and nori flakes, caviaroli, togarashi, shiso leaves, and served with Maki’s special olive oil and vegan Maki Sauce. Sounds as delicious as it tastes – even for non-vegans.
Maki’s famous crispy salad has now been done with a vegan-based sauce with no mayonnaise, but is just as delicious as the original, just a bit lighter for those feeling they over indulged over the festive season.
The addition of the new Vegan Bento Box includes the crispy salad, house made gyoza, vegetable kale maki, and garlic brown rice. Literally, the perfect light lunch.
For seafood lovers, young Kasey has made his own namesake maki – with salmon, prawn tempura, crabsticks, cucumber, avocado, tobiko, ikura, tempura flakes, and Maki’s spicy sauce. Yum.
Enough of food, Maki serve’s some hip beverages as well with specialities such as the ‘smoked’ Electric Lemonade, and the famous Strawberry Mojito. Enjoy all this and more to the sounds of wonderful lounge music put together by Maki’s in-house DJ Glenn!
