Pasta and Pizza Paradise

Rediscover your love for Italian food with authentic flavours with a fresh perspective at this new restaurant located in Hamala Hills.

When you’re craving a wholesome meal at any time of the day, there’s a love for Italian food that knows no bounds. Fresh and delicious, the popular cuisine is enjoyed by everyone from tiny tots to grown-ups. Capturing the simplicity and diversity of gastronomy with passion, food lovers in Bahrain will now be treated to a true epicurean experience in its full glory at Otto – the new concept from Al Abraaj Restaurants Group, known for its distinctive eateries.

Otto translates to ‘eight’ in Italian, and is housed at the Hamala Hills shopping complex, opening its doors and garden terrace from 8am onwards. The restaurant’s launch marks a number of firsts in the Kingdom’s culinary scene, with the introduction of an Italian-inspired breakfast and an all-day menu focused on slow-fermented sourdough pizzas.

Its unique ambience captures the rustic nature of a traditional trattoria, blended with the elegance of marble, making you feel at ease in its warm and inviting atmosphere. The concept was created by Al Abraaj Group with culinary guidance from executive chef Filippo Pagani of the award-winning UK-based restaurant group, San Carlo. The talented team, led by chef Lucca Daniele in Bahrain, has curated an all-day menu featuring popular favourites done just right. Ingredients for the pizzas, pastas and homemade gelato have been carefully sourced and imported.

The tantalising pizzas are the main attraction. The sourdough base ferments for 48 hours and is made from a blend of the finest-quality stone-ground flour, topped with a San Marzano tomato sauce, mozzarella fior di latte from the Campania region in southern Italy, and a variety of innovative toppings. Baked in a monolithic marble-clad Neapolitan oven, each creation is freshly prepared and cooked right in front of you at the venue. Another specialty at Otto is its breakfast menu that includes an exceptional assortment of savoury and sweet dishes, such as ricotta pancakes, Nutella calzone, eggs Florentine, fresh morning smoothies and much more.

The pasta offerings feature classics that are fresh yet comforting, like carbonara and Bolognese. Every meal comes to a satisfying end with a good dessert, and on the menu is an enticing repertoire, including the time-honoured panna cotta and tiramisu, the creative beetroot and carrot cake with mascarpone cheese frosting, and nine flavours of refreshing homemade gelatos – all displayed in a cart that welcomes you at the entrance.

For little ones, the kids’ meal choice includes a mini Margherita pizza accompanied with garlic bread and veggie sticks, juice and a mini-gelato, it is sure to put a smile on their faces.

Otto is open daily from 8am-11pm, serving breakfast from 8am-11.30am, followed by lunch and dinner from midday onwards.

Al Abraaj Group is also opening a San Carlo Cicchetti restaurant at the beginning of 2018 at Al Aali Shopping Complex.
