A Campus For Tomorrow

The British School of Bahrain recently invited guests to view the progress and intent behind its new Senior School campus with a guided tour.
Among those in attendance were H.E. Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, Liz Stanley, Executive Headteacher of The British School of Bahrain and His Excellency Alastair Long, British Ambassador to Bahrain. The tour also welcomed Shahan Khalid, COO, MENA & CFO, Middle East & Africa at Inspired Education Group and Akram Miknas, Chairman and CEO of Promoseven Holdings, underlining the broad interest in a development that will shape the school’s senior provision in Bahrain for years to come.
Purpose-built campus
What distinguishes the project is the clear intention to create a dedicated environment for students in Years 10 to 13, a stage where academic focus, independence and wellbeing carry particular weight. The planned campus is designed to support the demands of GCSE and A Level pathways while also strengthening the wider experience that senior students value, from specialist learning to co-curricular life.
During the walkthrough, guests were introduced to the thinking behind spaces intended to encourage both individual study and collaborative work, including a Sixth Form Centre and research focused areas that reflect the increasing autonomy expected of older learners. The design also signals a desire to give senior students a setting with its own identity, while maintaining continuity with the ethos families associate with BSB.

Facilities that match the ambition
The scale of the facilities presented during the tour is significant. Plans include 34 classrooms, a new library and research space and eight advanced science laboratories. The performing arts provision is also set to expand, with an acoustically engineered auditorium designed to accommodate more than 500 seats, supported by drama and music spaces for rehearsal and performance.
Sport is another major feature of the campus vision. The plans include two indoor sports halls, indoor padel and tennis courts, an athletics track and a 25m indoor swimming pool, alongside outdoor pitches and multi-use courts. The intention, as communicated during the visit, is to ensure that sport, creativity and enrichment are embedded into senior life rather than treated as optional additions.
Ms Stanley said: “This is more than a new building. It is a meaningful investment in the future of our students,” adding that the campus aims to “inspire ambition, encourage independence, and equip every student to thrive in an ever changing world.”
With stakeholders from education, diplomacy and the private sector present, the event served as a statement of direction as much as a tour, positioning the new Senior School campus as an important step in BSB’s long term commitment to senior education in Bahrain.
