BTM brings you the low-down on the latest and greatest apps on the market.
What is it?
If you’re tired of those pesky ads appearing everywhere on your smartphone, this app not only removes them but also blocks trackers, widgets, web fonts, adult sites and numerous other categories. Each option can be expanded, letting you block specific ad networks, trackers and so on. Each section has a search tool, so you can really go in-depth into the options and block or permit as much as you want on your phone’s web browser.
It has a powerful array of blocking tools to fine-tune your browsing. It also reduces data usage and load times on various websites.
To access the full features, you’ll have to pay for the premium version (BD1). It also doesn’t let you report broken sites and, at first, the massive array of options can be intimidating.
Qapital is a mobile finance app that focuses on getting you to save every time you do little actions in your day. For example, if you find yourself buying a coffee on the way to work every morning, Qapital can round up the price and stick the change in a savings account instead. Or you can set a rule so that if you come in under budget for your monthly commuting expenses, Qapital puts the balance into a holiday fund. It’s a well-developed app that does a great job of letting you know just how much you can save by changing little things.
App: G Data Secure Chat
The ultimate secure texting app, G Data Secure Chat offers the choice of sending either encrypted or unencrypted messages, letting it function as a full-blown messaging app replacement when you don’t want to enable the cool self-destructing message option. Another cool option is the choice to perform a key exchange to ensure the person you’re chatting with is who they say they are. This is done in the same room by scanning the QR codes provided by the app.
