UNTITLED GOOSE GAME
Verdict: A quirky and frankly bizarre experience.
What is it?
Untitled Goose Game is a slapstick-stealth-sandbox, where you are a goose let loose on an unsuspecting village. Make your way around town, from people’s back gardens to the high street shops to the village green, setting up pranks, stealing hats, honking a lot and generally ruining everyone’s day.
There’s a lot of stealth elements and the chances of success are greatly increased the more forward planning you do. From hiding in hedgerows to patiently watching the movement patterns of foolish humans, there are some very solid gameplay mechanics at the heart of the game. Not only that but the way you solve the various problems is impressively open-ended, helped by a relatively realistic physics engine that is reliable enough that you can set up some quite complex actions.
The game is very crisp, colourful and has a definite stylish look to it. The world is painted in blocks of colour, while shading and textures are near non-existent. It’s a different art style and one that suits the adventure perfectly, complementing both the game and the music.
