Website Reviews - July 2019

Site: www.readability.com
Verdict: Clean and user-friendly option for frequent web browsers.

What is it?
Readability is a free website application with the purpose of delivering a convenient reading experience. It turns virtually any web page into a clean, comfortable reading view by narrowing columns, dimming garish background colours and minimising pages to avoid clutter.

The Good
It works with almost every website and it also lets you sync articles for reading later as you surf around the web. Readability works on your web browser, iPhone, iPad and Android smartphone, giving you the flexibility to read anytime, anywhere in its signature streamlined style.

The Bad
It’s rare, but occasionally Readability doesn’t quite read a page correctly (or at all), and its attempts to make a page easy to read end up grotesquely altering the page and making it impossible to read properly. It’s a pain to go into the options and disable it for that specific page when this happens.

www.stackoverflow.com
This is a great website for those learning to programme or those who have already dabbled and are trying to improve their skills. If you’re stuck or failing to understand a concept, ask StackOverflow. Between the searchable archive and an active community of experts, StackOverflow is a fantastic question-and-answer resource for beginning and established programmers alike. It’s also free and no registration is required.

www.snopes.com
This is a really fun and creative website that will be the constant annoyance of your friends and family when they try and tell you hokey stories or pass on scaremongering emails. Snopes is a website dedicated to hunting down the facts behind urban legends, chain letters and misconceptions and is a reliable source for debunking the scams and untruths while confirming the quirkier ones.
