Bringing Teaching Experts to Bahrain

This local institute hosted an international teaching conference to bring together education experts under one roof.

Riffa Views International School (RVIS) hosted prominent leaders in professional learning at a speciality conference – Near East/South Asia (NESA) 2017 Fall Training Institute – on November 3 and 4.

Over the last 50 years, NESA has become synonymous with promoting exemplary opportunities for educators around the world. RVIS was proud to host NESA for the second consecutive year. “The speakers at these events are world-renowned leaders in professional learning, and we are proud to bring them to Bahrain to enhance the teaching at RVIS and the whole of the country,” says RVIS school director Dr Kurt Nordness.

The event welcomed speakers such as Ken O’Conner, a leading expert in effective grading and reporting, and Carol Commodore, who specialises in developing assessments for world languages. Other topics included helping students expand their creativity and enhancement of project-based learning in Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms.

With 40+ member schools and over 130 affiliate ones, this event attracted delegates from local and international institutes. After hosting the event for two successive years, the curriculum coordinator, Jessica Davis, sees these events as “a great opportunity for the 200+ national and international delegates travelling to RVIS to learn from educational leaders and experience the Bahraini culture”. RVIS looks forward to its continued relationship with NESA and other schools associated with the organisation.
