Drilling on New Wells

Exploitation of the Kingdom’s recently discovered additional mineral resources will begin with drilling of two wells in the Khaleej Al Bahrain oil and gas field, due to begin in October by US contractor Halliburton. National Oil and Gas Authority of Bahrain (Noga) chairman, Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa outlined the plans in a keynote speech to the American Chamber of Commerce in Bahrain saying the wells are part of a research and evaluation phase set to end in June next year.

Speaking about work to claim the new discovery of 80 billion barrels of unconventional oil and up to 20 trillion cubic feet of tight gas in shallow-waters off the country’s west coast, Shaikh Mohammed said international partners may be selected in December 2019 for the production phase.
