Evergreen in mechanism and style, the limited-edition Presage from the house of Seiko, pays homage to Japan’s lush forest cover.
The story of Seiko began in 1881, when 22-year-old entrepreneur, Kintaro Hattori, opened a shop selling and repairing watches and clocks in central Tokyo. Today, after more than 130 years of innovation, Kintaro Hattori’s company is still dedicated to the perfection the founder always strove to achieve.
Seiko’s long history has produced many landmark timepieces that have been the first of their kind, or have set new milestones in the watchmaking sphere.
The Presage is one of Seiko’s prized collections, combining Japanese heritage and cutting-edge technology to give the wearer a superior experience. The company has introduced a limited-edition line of wrist watches that is inspired by the vast and enchanting forestlands in Japan.
The forest is the landscape at the heart of the country and foliage, like the ubiquitous Japanese cedar, stays green all year long. Based on the idea of recreating the same long-lasting green of the Japanese cedar using resilient enamel, artisan Mitsuru Yokosawa has created a new green enamel dial. Owners of this rare and limited product can enjoy the deep, rich colour and sheen reflecting these quintessentially Japanese evergreen trees.
Enamel preserves its beautiful colour for a long time. With the creation of the dial supervised by the master artisan himself, these verdant hues and sheen will be enjoyed for many years to come.
The layout design denotes the splendours of nature. Besides the rich shade of green, the thick metal hour markers are reminiscent of the shape of Japanese cedar leaves. They are not only beautiful, but also provide high legibility.
Only 2,000 pieces of this artistic watch have been manufactured, and each one is engraved with the words Limited Edition, with the serial number on the see-through case back. The enamel dial has been manufactured by firing at high temperatures. Due to the melting process, there may be little dimples, tiny dots and a rough surface on the dial, making the anomalies a unique feature of a genuine enamel dial.
The case material is stainless steel, with dual-curved sapphire crystal, treated with an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface. The crocodile leather strap bears a three-fold clasp with push button release. The 24 jewels give the watch a regal demeanour, with the added convenience of displaying the date and a stop second hand function. The watch has water resistance up to 10 bar.
The limited edition of the Seiko Presage can be purchased in Bahrain at the Ambassador Stores outlet located at Bab Al Bahrain, Manama.
