Porsche has expanded its range of compact SUVs with the addition of the powerful Macan S. The new model from the sports car manufacturer features a new three-litre V6 turbocharged petrol engine with a gasoline particulate filter. It delivers 354hp and has a maximum torque of 480Nm, representing an increase of 14hp and 20Nm compared with the previous model. With twin-scroll technology, the exhaust gas flows are continuously fed to the turbine wheel as separate streams significantly reducing any charge cycle disadvantages. The further-developed combustion chamber geometry with a central injector promotes efficient fuel mixture preparation. The new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) which features a 10.9-inch, full-HD touchscreen, comes as standard and includes navigation, mobile phone connection, two audio interfaces and intelligent voice control. The optional GT sports steering wheel, originating from the 911, bolsters the sporty interior design of the Macan S. The new Macan S can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 5.1 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds quicker than its predecessor. The vehicle’s top speed is 254km/h, whilst the fuel consumption (NEDC-correlated) is 8.9 l/100km.
