Hino Trucks, a Toyota Group Compay represented in Bahrain by Motor City, has become a vital part of the Kingdom’s commercial vehicle industry. We speak to Amjesh Asokan, Senior Manager of Sales at Motor City, to find out more.
Few know the Hino story in Bahrain better than Mr. Asokan. Having been part of the brand’s journey since 2012, he has played a pivotal role in positioning Hino as a top choice across major industry sectors including logistics, construction, waste management and leasing.
From day one, our aim was to establish ourselves as the most preferred truck brand in the Kingdom with a customer-centric approach,” he explains. We focused on providing tailor-made logistics solutions that aligned with our clients’ operational goals.”
This strategy has paid off, not only in terms of market share but in trust. Hino now enjoys strong relationships with key customers, many of whom see the brand as a partner rather than just a vehicle supplier.
Meeting Bahrain’s Evolving Needs
Hino’s adaptability has been central to its continued growth. With Bahrain’s transport and logistics landscape evolving, the company remains agile in anticipating market demands.
“At Motor City – Hino Trucks, we follow a ‘Best Fit Truck’ strategy,” explains Mr. Asokan. “We offer a wide product range that suits light, medium and heavy-duty operations, always keeping the cost of ownership low. From urban deliveries to long-haul transport, we deliver durable, fuel-efficient and technologically advanced trucks.”
Beyond product variety, the company has also invested in customer support initiatives such as tailor-made service packages, eco-drive training, mobile maintenance support and flexible leasing options.
“Our localised approach is what sets us apart. We understand the unique challenges faced by Bahraini businesses and continue to adapt accordingly,” he adds.
Powered by Japanese Engineering
Hino’s commitment to quality is deeply embedded in its engineering.
From the 300 Series light-duty trucks to the heavy-duty 700 Series, every model is fully built in Japan with a focus on performance, safety and flexibility.
“Our vehicles are designed around QDR – Quality, Durability and Reliability,” says Mr. Asokan. “The 300 Series, for instance, features EGIS cab protection, ABS, dual airbags and disc brakes. It’s built for both driver comfort and road safety.”
For heavier applications, the 500 and 700 Series are widely used across Bahrain for tankers, tippers and customised builds. Their compatibility with various superstructures makes them a go-to choice for businesses with specific operational needs.

Eyes on the Future
Looking ahead, Hino is preparing to launch a new generation of trucks aligned with regional environmental regulations. “We’ll soon be introducing Euro 4 and Euro 5 models in Bahrain,” Mr. Asokan confirms. “These low-emission, fuel-efficient trucks will come with both manual and automatic options to meet the growing demand for sustainable transport solutions.”
With this forward-thinking approach and a deep understanding of the local market, Hino, under Motor City, continues to set the benchmark for commercial vehicle excellence in Bahrain.
