Al Haddad Motors launched a new beauty at its showroom recently, showcasing a selected range of Mercedes-Benz with amazing prices and exclusive offers that ran for three days. The highlight was the E-Class Cabriolet.
Twenty-five years after the launch of the first Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet, the latest edition of this winning model promises even more style, comfort, space and intelligence than its predecessors. The four-seat cabriolet, with its classic fabric soft top, combines puristic, sensuous design with long-distance comfort and the latest technology.
“The new E-Class Cabriolet is the third and youngest member of Mercedes-Benz’s E Class family in the region,” says Al Haddad Motors Bahrain marketing head Imran S Ali. “It is the definitive car for enjoying open air freedom in luxurious comfort and ultimate style – and there is no driving experience quite like it.”
When the soft top is up, the E-Class Cabriolet has a silhouette similar to that of the E-Class Coupé and displays the same expressive proportions. The ‘hot and cool’ design idiom, representing both elegance and intelligence, is what shapes the appearance of the vehicle, and informs its unique character – most particularly when the soft top is down.
The soft top flows harmoniously into the muscular-looking rear, and, as a new feature, the extremely slim LED tail lamps put on a special light show for the driver when they approach or leave the car.
With the roof open, the harmony between exterior and interior design becomes apparent. Its external entity comprises polished aluminium (AMG Line in matt aluminium is GCC standard) with a trim frame on the A-pillar and a wide trim finish that surrounds the soft-top compartment.
The fully automatic acoustic fabric soft top is available in dark brown, dark blue, dark red or black. Its multilayered structure with sophisticated insulation reduces wind and driving noise. It can be fully opened and closed in 20 seconds when travelling at a speed of up to 50km/h. The boot capacity of 385 litres ensures excellent everyday practicality, as do the all-new 50:50 folding rear seat backrests that create a through-loading feature in the interior.
The attractive interiors in Yacht Blue, in combination with Macchiato Beige, lend the Cabriolet a cool, exclusive yachting look. The optional interiors include five different leather colours, with nine different trim options, including two in innovative high-gloss open-pore wood.
The dual high-resolution 12.3-inch/31.2-cm displays that merge beneath a shared glass cover to create a widescreen that appears to be floating in thin air, but yet blends in smoothly between the upper and lower sections of the cockpit, are a unique selling point and optionally available. The driver can choose from three different styles for the virtual instruments: Classic, Sport and Progressive, and has multiple options for operating the instrument cluster, multimedia system and other functions.
Maximum open-air comfort is possible in the new model thanks to the optional AIRCAP and AIRSCARF neck-level heating. The AIRCAP system was developed specifically for Mercedes-Benz cabriolets, comprising an electric wind deflector module discreetly integrated into the roof frame and an electric wind blocker behind the rear seats.
Optimum protection is assured in the new E-Class Cabriolet thanks to the high structural safety of the body and the extensive array of restraint systems. The roll-over protection system, developed specifically for the Cabriolet, consists of two cartridges that are fully retracted behind the rear seats and therefore invisible. If a roll-over is imminent, these cartridges are pyrotechnically fired, shooting out to provide a survival space together with the A-pillar.
Other highlights include the Driving Assistance package with enhanced Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC and Active Steering Assist. It not only keeps the car the correct distance behind vehicles in front, it can also follow them automatically at a speed of up to 210km/h.
The optional COMAND online enables effortless integration of the smartphone
into the infotainment system by means of wireless charging.
In celebration of the E-Class Cabriolet’s anniversary, Mercedes-Benz has created a 25th Anniversary special edition, available for purchase on request and aimed primarily at collectors and lovers of unique cars.
