150 Citizens Evacuated from Egypt as part of Bahrain’s COVID-19 Evacuation Efforts

The third and last flight carrying 150 Bahraini nationals and students to the Kingdom of Bahrain took off from the Arab Republic of Egypt yesterday.

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain in Cairo and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Hisham bin Mohammed Al-Jowdar, affirmed that in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Embassy facilitated the return of citizens wishing to come back home.

The Ambassador noted that the Embassy has facilitated the return of 1272 citizens in total, starting with 800 citizens before the decision to suspend flights in the Arab Republic of Egypt on March 17, and 322 citizens after the suspension in two different flights.

He affirmed the Embassy’s keenness to continue its support to all citizens who decided to remain in Egypt due to their work commitments, for treatment or family obligations.

He also expressed thanks and appreciation to the authorities concerned in the Arab Republic of Egypt, valuing the cooperation of the Egyptian Ministry throughout Eid Al-Fitr holiday to coordinate the last flight.
