157 Bahrainis Evacuated from Egypt

A batch of 157 Bahraini citizens and students have returned to Bahrain from Egypt. The evacuation was part of the precautionary measures being undertaken by the Kingdom of Bahrain due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) fallout.

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa had issued royal directives  to provide all support to Bahraini citizens wishing to come back home, in coordination with the Foreign Ministry.

Bahrain’s Ambassador-Designate to Egypt and the Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Hisham bin Mohammed Al-Jowder, followed up on the procedures at the Cairo International Airport to ensure citizens’ return.

He commended the Egyptian authorities' cooperation to facilitate the citizens' return to the Kingdom of Bahrain. “The embassy had received support from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other various competent authorities,” he said, further praising the efforts of all Embassy employees to facilitate the procedures for the return of citizens.
