BACA Launches Open Call for Handicraft Training Sessions in Bahrain

Registration for handicraft training sessions by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) is now officially open. The training program is open to Bahrainis and residents over the age of 18 with a genuine interest in culture, heritage and handicrafts.

The ‘Craftsmen Apprenticeship Training Program aims to transfer the expertise of local craftsmen to the younger generations, develop craft and artistic skills and create cooperation between artists and designers alike. Materials created during the training program will be used in Bahrain's pavilion at the 2020 Expo-Dubai on October 20-April 10.

The training program will focus on learning the basics of craftsmanship, preparing materials, converting skills into a product, linking different crafts through potential collaborations, weaving various crafts together, enhancing cooperation between craftsmen and designers and linking craftsmanship to art and design.

Registration for the program will be open till April 15,2020. The committee will interview all participants prior to the launch of the program.
