Bahrain goes green as seedlings planted in tubli mangroves

More than 2,000 seedlings have been planted as part of the operational phase of Bapco Mangrove Model Nursery.

The move was announced by the Special Envoy for Climate Affairs and Chief Executive Officer of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE), Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Daina.

Dr Bin Daina also said that the kingdom’s efforts to increase the green areas and enhance the factors affecting the marine and land environment in a positive manner require cooperation and solidarity with various institutions, including the Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco), which has always been proactive in supporting environmental projects.

The seedlings were planted with the aim of preserving mangroves and increasing their production, given their great role in improving the quality of the marine environment.

Dr Bin Daina expressed thanks and appreciation to the Oil Minister, Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, for his support for the projects emanating from the cooperation agreement signed between the two sides, noting that the partnership embodies the SCE’s keenness to implement initiatives and projects to preserve the environment and achieve sustainable development in the kingdom.
