Beautification of Al Farooq Junction completed

The landscaping and beautification of Al Farooq Junction in Manama has been completed, with more than 92,000sqm of work completed, the Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf has said.

The efforts were based on the ministry's integrated action plan to increase the green areas, carry out beautification projects and change the cosmetic facades in the main streets and junction in various areas of Bahrain.

Tree planting and greening at Al Farooq Junction was carried out in coordination with the Supreme Council for the Environment regarding the types of plantations and trees suitable for Bahrain's climate and environment in order to reduce temperatures and preserve the biological diversity of local plants.

The project included reclamation and levelling of the land, an automatic irrigation network, reservoirs and irrigation pump stations, water fountains and electric lighting lamps.

It also included around 800 environmentally friendly shade and ornamental trees of various types, different types of shrubs and 1,500 evergreen plants.
