Coffee Shop Fined BD 9000 for Serving Hookah Despite Coronavirus Guidelines

The Lower Criminal Court ruled that an owner of a coffee shop be fined BD 3000, the manager BD 1000 and the café BD 5000 for serving hookah to customers outside the coffee shop in violation of a ministerial decision to close commercial outlets as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

As per the government’s directives, shisha cafes across the Kingdom are not to sell shisha currently, but rather focus on the takeaway and delivery service of food.

In another incident, the court fined a defendant BD 1000 for not complying with home quarantine. The Public Prosecution also launched an investigation into notifications reported by the Public Health Directorate against 14 persons who did not adhere to home confinement.
