The dangers of Covid-19 were laid bare today as the Ministry of Health announced that the death toll from the virus has passed 500.

The latest figures is 502 after two Bahraini men, aged 62 and 82, passed away this afternoon. 656 new cases were also announced.

Both the National Medical Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the Ministry of Health continue to urge all citizens and residents to comply with the established precautions and directives.

It is a shared responsibility to ensure communities are safeguarded from the virus, the bodies said.

The precautionary measures to follow include washing and sanitising hands regularly, wearing masks, following social distancing guidelines and getting vaccinated.

The latest figures show 7,046 current active cases, of which 55 are critical and 124 are receiving treatment. The vaccination drive continues to be a success, with 417,364 people having had their first dose and 235,872 having had their second.
