10-Year ‘Golden Residency Visa’ Launched in Bahrain

The Ministry of Interior has announced the introduction of a 10-year Golden Residency Visas in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Residents and non-residents can apply for the Golden Residency Visa which aims to boost investment in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030.

Details regarding the new visa were announced during a press conference held at the Interior Ministry’s Officer’s Club in Gudaibiya chaired by the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), under-secretary Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa.

Those holding the Golden Residency Visa will have their visas renewed indefinitely upon meeting certain criteria. To qualify for the Golden Residency Visa, existing residents must have lived in the Kingdom for no less than five years and earned an average basic salary of BD 2.000 and above throughout the course of the five-year period. Benefits of holding the newly launched visa includes multiple entry and exit from the Kingdom of Bahrain free from restrictions, residency for family members and the right to work in the Kingdom.

Other criteria which individuals must meet in order to receive the Golden Residency Visa include owning at least one property in Bahrain (valued at BD 200,000 and above), be a retiree with an income of BD 4,000 or more, be ‘highly-talented’ meeting relevant requirements and reside in the Kingdom for 90 days a year to ensure the validity of their visa.
