What you need to know about André Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra

André Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra are going to be part of the incredible Spring of Culture festival. Here’s why you should make the effort to see him live.

Icon

Rieu is one of the biggest stars of the classical genre. He has been performing across the world for decades and sold tens of millions of albums. He is considered one of the greats and his passion for his craft is visible in every show he does.

Achieving the impossible

Rieu has his own privately owned and funded orchestra. This is an achievement not many thought possible. Most classical music artists have orchestras connected to a choir, church, school, government or are funded in some way. Rieu has broken barriers with his ability to run a business through music.

For the love of classic

Although he loves performing live, Rieu says being in studio is a beautiful thing. Being able to create music with his orchestra and put that on an album where people get to hear him in their own homes is his number one goal.

It runs in his genes

His father was a conductor and Rieu used to be in an orchestra himself. But it became all about money and when his wife say he wasn’t happy, together they made the decision for Rieu to start his own orchestra and focus on the kind of music and atmosphere they wanted.

The deets

The concert will be at the Al Dana Amphitheatre on 16 February.  Tickets start from 20 BHD per person.
