Learning Conference
A conference titled ‘Overcoming Learning Difficulties’ will feature speakers from the US, UK and GCC states. The event will be held under the patronage of Social Development Minister Dr. Fatima Al Balooshi. Post conference, a workshop will be held on May 3 from 9am to 3pm in English and from 4pm to 9pm in Arabic.

Soccer tournament
EZFit will be holding an indoor mini-soccer five-a side football tournament. Over 130 youngsters aged 10 and below are expected to take part. The competition will feature two age groups, the under-8 and under-10. Games will be played every Saturday between 2pm and 5pm.

Photography Exhibition
The World Press Photo exhibition will feature over 200 prize-winning photographs of photo journalists from all over the world covering human interest, politics, sports and travel. The images in the exhibition will also be available in the World Press Photo Yearbook, which will be on sale at the venue.

Art Exhibition
Dr. Samia Abdul Razzak will present her artworks at an exhibition titled ‘For Her’, which is a tribute to feminism and women. Dr. Samia’s heightened emotions and feelings will also be seen on canvas which, according to her, is her own identity. Bahraini artist Dannah Shafie who will hold her first exhibition in collaboration with Dr. Samia.

Gulfbid 2008
The Third Annual Gulf International Exhibition for construction, interiors and furniture will attract more than 120 companies and several distributors from all around the world. It will feature interior design products and services including furniture, fabrics, wall coverings, lighting, bathrooms and kitchens, artworks and accessories, as well as marble and stonework.

Photography Exhibition
Urban landscapes will be the focus of a photography exhibition titled Double Vue. Organised by Alliance Française, the exhibition will feature composite images by the award-winning Lebanese-born Canadian artist Camille Zakharia. Almost 40 images will be on display reflecting the impact of Bahrain’s modernisation on cultural and social development.

Art Exhibition
Artists Ella Prakash will hold a three-day exhibition to include fine arts and abstract artworks. Titled ‘Inspiration through colours,’ the artist will highlight the old and contemporary side of Bahrain using two techniques — geometrical shapes and designs as well as light brush strokes — giving her representations a modern twist.

Photography Exhibition
The British Council, in association with Bait Al’Quran, plans to make ‘Climate Change’ everyone’s concern in Bahrain. To bring this issue to the forefront, organisers will hold a photography exhibition entitled North, South, East, and West. May 16 will see a seminar by the Bahrain Businessmen’s Association on the subject of the Economics of Climate Change.

Shakespeare in Shades of Grey
The WMC Toastmasters will stage a play called ‘The Last Shade of Grey’. An adaptation of Shakespeare’s tragedy Othello, the play is set in 1930s Arabia where the region is on the verge of an oil boom. Written by member Suresh Karunakaran, the play is directed by Rekha Utham and K Mohandas.

Art Exhibition
Art Lounge will hold an artistic extravaganza featuring over 100 artworks of 10 Bahraini artists. Participating artists are Balqees Fakhroo, Abbas Al-Mosawi, Fareed Abu Qais, Kareema Taha, Mohammed Fakrawi, Faisal Al Absi Jaffar Al Oraibi and sculptor Khalid Farhan. It will also present other international collections.
