Verdict: Another knockout entry from the fighting favourite.
WHAT IS IT?
Tekken 8, the latest instalment in the iconic fighting series, continues the tragic saga of the Mishima and Kazama bloodlines and their world-shaking father-and-son grudge matches. In this latest chapter, Jin Kazama will seek to defy his fate as he faces his father Kazuya Mishima causing war and destruction across the globe.
GAMEPLAY
Tekken 8 focuses on aggressiveness and will have a new ‘Heat’ gauge system, in addition to returning gameplay features from Tekken 7, such as Rage system-based attacks, with the Rage Drive having been separated and reworked as a Heat system-based move known as Heat Smash.
GRAPHICS
Rather than recycling content, all character models are completely new and are an improvement over previous games. In addition, voice lines are based solely on the current voice actors, rather than using any from the previous games. In contrast to Tekken 7, which is powered by Unreal Engine 4, Tekken 8 is powered by the Unreal Engine 5, making it the very first major fighting game to utilise this latest game engine.
ALONE IN THE DARK
Alone in the Dark is a survival horror game developed by Pieces Interactive. The game is a reimagining of the 1992 original and follows Emily Hartwood (Jodie Comer) and private investigator Edward Carnby (David Harbour) as they travel to Derceto Manor, a home for the mentally fatigued, to investigate the disappearance of Jeremy Hartwood, Emily’s uncle.
PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE LOST CROWN
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a 2.5D platform action-adventure video game developed and published by Ubisoft. The game introduces a new hero named Sargon, a young member of a warrior clan named The Immortals. Sargon must travel to the cursed city of Mount Qaf to rescue the kidnapped Prince Ghassan.
AVATAR: FRONTIERS OF PANDORA
Played in a first-person perspective, players take control of a Na’vi orphan raised and trained as a soldier by the Resources Development Administration (RDA), before being put into suspended animation and waking up 15 years later in an abandoned facility. The player must embark on a journey across the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen region of Pandora, discovering their origins and organizing the local Na’vi tribes to fight back against the RDA as they attempt to exploit the natural resources of the Western Frontier.
