Since its establishment, the University College of Bahrain has grown to be a stalwart of higher education in the Kingdom. Here’s what you need to know about UCB:
Founded in 2002 by Prof. Sh. Khalid Bin Mohammed AlKhalifa, the University College of Bahrain (UCB) is a non-profit private institution of higher education, licensed by the Ministry of Education. Since its founding, UCB has become Bahrain’s most student-centered university. The university has earned a glowing reputation for its combined aim of achieving excellence in education and enabling students to achieve their goals through their unwavering commitment.
UCB is dedicated to continuous pursuit of the highest standards of education. In 2022, the University was granted the quality assurance certificate of educational institutions by the Jordanian Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutes (AQACHEI) and has recently been accredited by the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia. The degree programmes were originally designed and developed around a USA and Canadian higher education model of curriculum content, assessment and delivery pattern, through a formal relationship with McMaster University in Canada, which provided advice and the initial curriculum. Hence, UCB provides a rigorous and internationally informed curriculum based on a semester credit hour system in the USA/Canadian liberal arts tradition.
The University specialises in the subject areas of Business Administration and Communications and Multimedia. It educates students and instills new knowledge by uniting the rigour, relevance, creativity and intellectual dynamics of business and the liberal arts, dedicated to quality education that is benchmarked against local and international standards and attuned to the needs of the region it serves. The University continuously upgrades its curricula to include the most recent practices ensuring that graduates will obtain professional knowledge and the required skills to be the leaders in their profession.
UCB strives to cultivate business leaders who will ride the waves of change and steer them toward the creation of wealth for the entire society. The programmes are coached in a context of innovation, teamwork and creativity that inspire critical thinking, personal growth and a passion for learning. UCB aims to serve the social, cultural, and economic needs of the community in Bahrain and the wider region.
