Live Life Headache Free

Don’t let a debilitating pain in your head stop you from living each day to the fullest. The neurologists from this reputed hospital are ready to come to the rescue.

Do you get constant headaches? At times even the simplest of activities or emotions have the potential to trigger a headache or a migraine. People usually turn to painkillers such as paracetamol for a quick solution, but that might not be enough.

Living up to its commitment to bringing the latest technological solutions in medicine, Royal Bahrain Hospital (RBH) has now introduced the Sphenocath device and procedure, which is used to treat conditions such as severe headaches, migraines, facial and dental pain and post-traumatic stress disorder, to name a few.

This quick and simple procedure delivers anaesthetic effect through the nasal cavity, which in turn creates what is called a Sphenopalatine Ganglion (SPG) that blocks migraine pain without the use of medication or needles. It is a 10-15-minute procedure that allows patients to be relieved from pain and eliminates the side-effects emanating from long-term medication.

The SPG block method has multiple benefits, including a short practice time, higher success rate, safety for adults, children and expecting mothers — ultimately resulting in long-lasting pain relief. In typical cases, patients may need five to eight treatments per year for a lasting effect, but the doctor can suggest a suitable plan based on the results.

This new headache and migraine solution is currently offered at RBH at the neurology department by Dr Adel Al Jishi and Dr Sayed Moh’d Alsaffar, both experienced consultants in neurology.
