Mehdi Hanayen has been announced as the new general manager of the Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa, after having joined the property as director of operations in 2017. In his new role, Mehdi will bring his strong attention to detail and his years of experience of leading and motivating teams to drive hotel performance. He will report to Sami Nasser, chief operating officer, luxury brands, Middle East.
Mehdi first joined AccorHotels in 2008, working for Sofitel El Gezirah in Cairo, Egypt, as food and beverage manager till 2011. He then moved to the UAE as assistant director of food and beverage at Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche. Promotions saw him rise to the position of executive assistant manager by 2015. In 2017, he moved to Bahrain and took over the responsibility of managing the property as acting GM in early 2018.
Mehdi holds a Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, finance and revenue management, from the Glion Institute of Higher Education, in Bulle, Switzerland, and a Master’s in hospitality management from Cornell University.
