Sporting Connection

Schoolboy Adam Rajab is a great example of the close ties between Bahrain and the UK. The 10-year- old, whose mum Anne is Northern Irish and dad Ebrahim is Bahraini-British, is a talented ice skater. He first took to the rink in here in the Kingdom in November 2016 working under coach Michelle Ruh. But, since, like many youngsters, he travels back to his mum’s home country during the holidays, he also joined the Dempsey Andrews Ice Skating Academy team in Dundonald. Thanks to training five times a week at Bahrain’s Funland, he was able to join the team a few weeks ago when members competed in recent championships in Milton Keynes, UK, wowing the judges to take third place among 300 competitors. And Adam was one of the stars of the show, taking first in his category – boys’ beginners.
