Founded in 2002 by Shaikh Dr. Khalid Bin Mohammed AlKhalifa, the University College of Bahrain (UCB) is a non-profit private institution of higher education, licensed by the Ministry of Education. Since its founding, UCB has grown to be Bahrain›s most student-centered university. The university has earned a glowing reputation for its combined aim of achieving excellence in education and enabling students to achieve their goals through their unwavering commitment.
The degree programmes were originally designed and developed around a USA and Canadian higher education model of curriculum content, assessment and delivery pattern, through a formal relationship with McMaster University in Canada; which provided advice and the initial curriculum. Hence, UCB provides a rigorous and internationally-informed curriculum based on a semester credit hour system in the USA/Canadian liberal arts tradition.
The University specialises in the subject areas of Business Administration, Information technology and Communications and Multimedia. It educates students and instills new knowledge by uniting the rigour, relevance, creativity and intellectual dynamics of business and the liberal arts, dedicated to quality education that is benchmarked against international standards and attuned to the needs of the region it serves. The University continuously upgrades its curriculum to include the most recent practices ensuring that graduates will obtain professional knowledge and the required skills to be the leaders in their profession.
UCB strives to cultivate business leaders who will ride the waves of change and steer them toward the creation of wealth for the entire society.
Their programmes are coached in a context of innovation, teamwork and creativity, inspire critical thinking, personal growth and a passion for learning. UCB strives to serve the social, cultural and economic needs of the community in Bahrain and the wider region.
