Make Your Day Extra Special

There are several finer details that go into planning and perfecting a wedding, so where does one start? Farah Baig shares some inspiration from weddings she’s attended and trends from around the world. Whether it’s cake, rings, flowers or ways to add a personal touch, you’ll find inspiration right here.

Layered Essentials from yallaCake!
Cake is undeniably an essential part of all our special days, and weddings are no exception! However, it’s obvious that you would like something quite unique on your big day. Yalla Cake, located in Janabiya, masterfully creates fully customised, artistic cakes in delicious flavours. Their skilled team can effectively bring your vision to life and custom design cakes for your bridal shower, engagement or wedding. Flowers and other elements can be entirely crafted by hand at Yalla Cake and even painted to match the theme of your wedding. Here are some of their wedding themed cakes that we loved, but feel free to follow them on Instagram using the handle

Don’t Forget the Rings!
If you had to list just three essentials for a wedding, it would likely be the bride, the groom and the rings. It is, after all, their day. This year, we have our eyes on the exquisite solitaires and wedding bands from Van Cleef & Arpels. You can embark on a journey of love with their exquisite Bridal Collection, featuring solitaires, wedding bands, engagement rings, and diamond jewellery that encapsulate the essence of romance.

Dazzling jewellery pieces, such as the Fleurette and Snowflake creations enrich the timeless elegance of engagement rings. The brand’s wedding bands are illuminated by the brilliance of gold or the sparkle of diamonds. The creations can be worn alone, together with an engagement ring, or even with a second matching ring to immortalise the commitment made to your loved one. The Maison has designed its creations to harmonise with elegance and comfort, with many combinations available to the future couple.

Interestingly enough, the Van Cleef & Arpels Maison was the result of love. In 1895, the Maison was born from the love story of Estelle Arpels, daughter of a gemstone dealer, and Alfred Van Cleef, son of a lapidary. The celebration of emotions continues today through the Maison’s creations. Since its founding, the Maison has cultivated a passion for the highest quality diamonds and colored gemstones. The colour, cut, and weight of each solitaire’s stone is as unique as the love it symbolises.

A Bouquet You’d Love to Catch
Whether you’re walking down the aisle or getting ready for the wedding toss, a beautiful bouquet is essential. Maximalism was previously trending with statement-making bouquets, bright colours and large bows and embellishments, but things have taken a turn. The bouquet is no longer the focal point of the bride’s wedding day look but rather a demure accessory. Smaller bouquets, often in pastel shades, with less embellishments are delicately bound with ribbon or twine. Lush greenery and delicate flowers come together for a refreshing aesthetic which keep all eyes on the bride.Add a Personal Touch
While we all might go through a standard checklist when planning our weddings, it’s essential that it doesn’t lack a personal touch. Think about things that might matter to you and your soon-to-be life partner. Couples all around the world have been incorporating elements into their wedding that are either quirky, heartfelt or nostalgic. Here are some that we love:

  • Have a book for wedding guests to leave a message for the happy couple. Or go with the modern take on this tradition and have a station where people can leave a video or voice note. This has been tried, tested and loved!

  • Have a disposable or polaroid camera at the tables of your closest friends and families so they can capture poignant and hilarious moments. You can then ‘see’ the wedding from their point of view.
  • Create a custom neon sign with a message that resonates with you, or opt for a cake topper that’s more personal.

  • This one is quite special. We’ve all lost people that are near and dear to us, and as seen at a friend’s wedding, you can have them right there with you. Print your favourite images of friends and family that you and your partner wish were there for your big day, place them in frames and decorate with flowers and/or candles for your ‘Wish You Were Here’ table.
